A Facebook friend of mine, Abbas A, who is a 19 year old Lebanese university student in Australia, posted this status on a popular opposition activist’s wall. The post got so many likes and favorable comments (many from the activist’s friends list) that he started deleting them and refrained from commenting himself because frankly what the hell can you respond to Abbas’ level-headed and persuasive argument that is based on pure logic except to say WORD?
Abbas comment below:
“Salam Brother, Can you please explain to me how do you expect me to support a so called ‘revolution’ or ‘uprising’ that enjoys the full support of McCain , Lieberman, Britain , France, America , Israel, Saudi Arabia and Qatar? I’m sorry but as a Muslim I struggle to see how what you are advocating here can sincerely benefit our Ummah. I find it strange how you say you’re more than ready to go to Syria and fight if you were allowed yet you will not lift a finger for Jihad in other Arab countries which are and have always been on the path of treason towards the Palestinian people, one of them being Saudi Arabia who have no freedom or liberty at all, who banned public demonstrations against the government, who are responsible for the daily crack downs on anti-govt protesters in Bahrain, who have one-family rule, who EVEN GIVE THE NAME OF THEIR FAMILY TO THE COUNTRY. Why isn’t there jihad in such countries? don’t you want to fight for freedom? for liberty? but oh no that’s right Saudi Arabia is the one who supplies this barbaric movement with money and weapons. It’s also so strange to me how now all of a sudden Saudi Arabia is so enthusiastic and it’s heart just BOILS for jihad in Syria and will give huge amounts of money to support jihad in Syria yet not one jihadist, not one cent not a crumb of bread was supplied by Saudi Arabia to Palestine when they had their land ripped out from underneath them and were expelled from their homes, Where was the enthusiasm then? where was all the money and weapons then? Where were all the screams for “SAVE THE UMMAH!” and “JIHAD!!” then?? , you’re telling me to believe that NOW all of a sudden Saudi Arabia really cares for the muslims being killed? for freedom? for democracy? for the ummah? , I am certain that a man your age is surely smarter than to be fooled by this fake interest and care about the Ummah that Saudi Arabia out of the blue is so conscious about. We Muslims need to wake up, we look like fools infront of the world fighting each other like savages because it’s only serving the political interests of America and Israel which are built on sectarian strife and division among Muslims and supplying them an easy passage into further destabilizing and controlling the Middle East.
P.s Before anyone decides to jump to conclusions and start calling me “Assadi” , I am not a supporter of the Syrians regimes domestic policies although I do support it’s foreign ones which entail it’s continued support for resistance against Israel and Anti-Imperialist efforts. I am with the Syrian people, I am with reform in Syria, the fate of Syria lies with the Syrian people only, you cannot easily convince me that the FSA represents the majority and I will not sit here and tell you everyone is for Assad either, In my OPINION, the whole matter of “who supports who” is not really going to alter the situation in Syria because now you have Anti-regime supporters and Regime supporters and both of them after 18 months still haven’t come to an agreement, there has been no negotiation and non-stop fighting, how long will this last? when will the bloodshed stop? Sons of Syria are dying on a daily basis regardless which side they are on they are all sons of Syria , my heart hurts from a drop of blood that is shed from an innocent Sunni civilian in the same way it does for an Alawite, for a Druzi, For a christian, for an Armenian. All people from these sects deserve to live in peace together just like they used to under the notion of merely being SYRIAN. I think what the majority of Syrian people can mutually agree on is just for the fighting to END and for Syria to regain stability, peace and safety.
God Bless.”
